Background

BRAVE NEW WORK involves partners from four rurally dominated European regions. In all of them, the majority of senior citizens retires earlier than the EU aims according to the objectives of the Strategy for Growth and Jobs (Lisbon strategy). However, all regions have quite large shares of inactive or unemployed elderly persons in their local populations and seek for ways to increase their employability amid demographic developments. These regions furthermore already started to realise the need to work for a better inclusion of senior citizens and have begun first projects, in co-operation with their regional employment agencies or through other EU projects.
